The picture left shows the Cheshire Lines railway which is now the Coast Road. The bomb crater was May 1941.

There was a station at Woodvale, where the Coast Road now meets Liverpool Road to start the Formby-by-Pass.

Cavendish House, at Woodvale on Liverpool Rd, where it met the Cheshire Lines railway. House was built in 1889 for Robert Bentick and was demolished in 1972.


The mail plane between Manchester and the Isle of Man came down on Ainsdale beach on 21st August 1987.
